Speaker Profile
Dr. Xiaolong Zheng serves as a research professor and PhD supervisor at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He holds a core distinguished research fellow appointment of CAS and a Class A faculty professorship at the School of Artificial Intelligence, University of CAS. He is a recipient of the National Natural Science Foundation of China for Distinguished Young Scholars and a distinguished member of the China Computer Federation (CCF). Dr. Zheng has presided over more than 20 national research projects, including National Key R&D Programs, Key and Special Projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Major Science and Technology Projects, and Major Special Projects for New Generation Artificial Intelligence. He has published over 200 academic papers and received five provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards. He has served as the executive chair of international academic conferences in his field for 7 times, as well as the program committee member for more than 40 top-tier and renowned international academic conferences. Currently, he holds multiple academic and advisory appointments: academic committee member of the State Key Laboratory of Autonomous Operation for Advanced Rail Transit; expert of the National Emergency Expert Group for Grain and Material Reserves Security; director of the Service Systems Engineering Committee under the Systems Engineering Society of China; deputy director of the Special Committee on Computational Society and Social Intelligence under the Chinese Association of Automation; deputy director and secretary-general of the Special Committee on Big Data Science and Engineering under the Chinese Command and Control Association; deputy group leader of the Academic and Intellectual Property Working Group of the China AI Industry Development Alliance; and deputy director of the AI Development Special Committee under the Chinese Association for Development Strategy Research.
Lecture Abstract
In recent years, social development has undergone sweeping transformations driven by digitization, networking, and intelligence. Large language model technologies have redefined human cognition and accelerated shifts in physical realities, social organizations and interaction modes. As a result, complex social systems have evolved to exhibit brand-new forms and characteristics, while triggering transformative upgrades to methodologies and research paradigms for modeling, analysis and decision-making of intricate social systems. This lecture elaborates on core shared technical challenges and state-of-the-art research regarding social computing and decision intelligence jointly powered by large and small models amid the digital and intelligent transformation. It further discusses prevailing opportunities within this research domain and prospects for its future evolution.
