讲座主题:The theories and real world applications of spatial equilibrium models, and their relevance for our cities today
讲座嘉宾简介
Professor Ying Jin teaches urban modelling and urban history at University of Cambridge. He has been studying urban analytics and modelling since 1985 and taken part in major modelling projects since 1990. He has been leader of the Cities and Infrastructure Group since 2012 at Cambridge. He was Director of the Martin Centre for Architectural and Urban Studies and Deputy Head of the Department of Architecture. He was elected a Fellow of the International Society for Urban Informatics in 2022, and a Trustee of the Needham Research Institute in Cambridge in 2024.
讲座摘要
This lecture explains why it is important to introduce equilibrium modelling when investigating urban development. The lecture reviews the full spectrum of equilibrium modelling, from the extremely partial to the most general, and then explains how to select the most appropriate tool for each research task. This review also reveals where the current econometrics, machine-learning and AI methods can help. It then shows how spatial equilibrium modelling have been applied in Europe and China in the past, and why it is even more relevant to the more steady phase of development such as in the UK and China today. The lecture aims to connect some of the tools that the students already know while introducing a modelling framework that can be applied to real world challenges.
